Dr. Hamdy Aboutaleb earned his Bachelor’s degree (MBBCh) in 1993 from Minoufiya University in Egypt. He then earned a Master of Science in Urology (M.Sc.) in 1998 and a Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy in Urology (M.D., Ph.D.) in 2004 from the same institution. Dr. Hamdy received Fellowships from the Toronto General Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children at the University of Toronto in 2003 and 2004, respectively. He also holds a Diploma in laparoscopic surgery from Strasbourg University in France, which he earned in 2015. Dr. Hamdy began his career at Minoufiya University in 1995, first as a Senior Resident and then as an Assistant Lecturer of Urology. He then accepted a position as a Research/Clinical Fellow in Pediatric Urology at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children in 2001. Dr. Hamdy returned to Minoufiya University in 2004 as a Lecturer of Urology. In 2010, he was promoted to Assistant Professor of Urology and then to Professor of Urology in September 2017. Dr. Hamdy continued to work as a visiting consultant in Egyptian hospitals, including the International Hospital and the Police Hospital, after 2006. Dr. Hamdy also served as Medical Director of Egypt’s Menoufia University Hospital. In 2008, he became the Head of the Urology Department at Egypt’s Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital. After a brief stint in Yemen in 2013, he accepted a position as a Consultant Urologist at a private hospital in Abu Dhabi. Dr. Hamdy is a physician with over 25 years of experience. Pediatric Urology, as well as laparoscopic and endourological surgery, are among his primary areas of interest. He has strong research interest and has published many papers in prestigious journals using novel techniques in Urology under his name. Dr. Hamdy was also awarded the “Best Poster Presentation” at the European Association of Urology in 2014, the “Best Research Presentation” at the Emirates Urological meeting, the 28th World Congress on Video Urology and Advances in Clinical Urology in 2017, and the “Best Research Presentation” at the 9th Emirates international urology conference and the 17th Arab Association of Urology conference in 2020.
