Dr. Oussama Chaar
Biography
Dr. Oussama earned his MD degree in 1984 from Liege University in Belgium. He then completed a Fellowship in Orthopedics and Traumatology with a subspecialty in joint replacement surgery at Liege University in 1990. He also holds a Diploma in biomechanics from Brussels’ ULB university and has been recognized by Liege University’s Faculty of Medicine’s “Lejeunne and Lechien Scientific Foundation.”
After 12 years of successful intensive clinical activity in Belgium, Dr. Oussama worked extensively in his native Syria as a Senior Consultant in Arthroplasty from 2002 to 2012. He established his joint replacement department and was appointed Head of the hospital’s orthopedic department. Dr. Oussama relocated to the Middle East in 2013 and worked at a prestigious government hospital in Abu Dhabi before joining a private hospital as a Consultant and Head of the orthopedic department.
Dr. Oussama has over 31 years of experience in his field and has successfully performed thousands of hip and knee joint replacement surgeries. He has a special interest in difficult primary surgeries, revision hip and knee replacements, complex pelvic fractures, and bone tumor surgery. He has extensive experience performing total hip replacements in patients with congenital hip dislocations. More than 50 patients with severe high riding dislocations were successfully managed without femoral shortening osteotomy.
He is a Speaker and Member of the scientific committee for the orthopedic MENA conference held in Dubai each year. Dr. Oussama is also a member of the Belgian Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Societies and the Syrian Orthopedic Surgery Societies. He is active in the medical community and attends and speaks at major medical conferences.
