Dr. Raul Barrios
Biography
Dr. Barrios completed his primary medical qualification from the Pontifical Xaverian University School of Medicine, Bogota, Colombia, in 1989. He went on to acquire multiple postgraduate qualifications from prestigious European institutions. He holds a specialist degree in Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery and a Ph.D. from the University of Navarre, Spain. He is a Member and a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, U.K. He trained at the University of Oxford, U.K., where he finished his CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the European Board of Orthopedics and Traumatology (FEBOT). Dr. Barrios also completed a Fellowship in reconstructive hip and knee surgery at Harvard University, U.S. He has been granted an A.O. International Travelling Fellowship (Davos, Switzerland) and visited trauma centers in Germany, Switzerland, Thailand, Singapore, and the U.S. Previously, he has practiced in several reputed hospitals of the National Health Service (NHS), the U.K., such as Milton Keynes General Hospital, Northampton General Hospital, Kettering General Hospital, John Radcliffe Hospital, and Nuffield Orthopedic Center. He is the recipient of many prestigious awards and scholarships and has published extensively in reputed international journals. He is editor of the Orthopedics and Rheumatology open-access journal (OROAJ), Juniper publishers, US. His special interests are knee and hip surgery. He keeps updating his knowledge and skills by attending authoritative scientific seminars and courses.
