Biography

Dr. Mohamed Albashir is an American-Certified General Surgeon with expertise in breast surgery. He previously worked at the Urgent Care Medical Center and Ain Al-Khaleej Hospital as a Consultant Surgeon and as the Director of the Breast Care Center and Chief of Breast Surgery at Tawam Hospital and the Co-Director of the General Surgery Residency Program. Dr. Bashir is a Visiting Associate Professor at UAE University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences. As Director of the Breast Care Center at Tawam Hospital, she was instrumental in receiving accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) in 2014, a program administered by the American College of Surgeons for the accreditation of breast centers. It is the world’s first accredited international center. Before 2007, he worked at Jersey City Medical Center and Maimonides Medical Center in New Jersey (New York). He was the Site Director of the Jersey City Medical Center’s General Surgery Residency Program. Additionally, he held the position of Assistant Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York). He earned a B.S. in Biochemistry with honors from CUNY-Staten Island (New York) in 1992, an MD from Down State Medical School (Brooklyn, New York) in 1996, and a General Surgery Residency from Downstate in 2001. The American Board of Surgery certified him in 2002 and recertified him in 2011. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He has served on the American Society of Breast Surgeons’ International Relations Committee since 2016.
